NecklaceThe choker is also called the queen of jewellery. A well chosen choker can dress a lady. All is needed is that little black dress. For many, the first image that comes to mind about choker is a sparkling gem that can be worn on a few special occasions a year. We think chokers carry a lot more possibilities. Necks should be adorned, there isn’t a part of the world where people have not worn some sort of pendant or amulet. However, while pendants are smaller and hang from a chain, chokers are larger in size and have more character. Due to their larger dimensions more possibilities are available for creative design or the expansion of an attractive composition. Despite this, we are often appalled at the unimaginative chokers that are sold world wide that lack in design and artistic thought. Unfortunately most jewellery companies are content with selling uninteresting shapes adorned with various gems. For us, creating chokers is a blissful experience, as it gives us the opportunity to use their large surface to experiment with different exciting tricks of our craft and emerge with interesting solutions. A choker is not necessarily a luxurious and extravagant piece of jewellery. While chokers of course can be regal, certain designs are appropriate for every day wear or lesser occasions. A pendant can represent a form or artistic thought on a smaller scale but a chocker allows ideas to develop on a larger scale and space. Chokers allow a theme to be extended along the neckline. From an oblong pendant through a row of pendants, to an contiguous choker, all kinds of pieces are feasible. The variation in stlye, size, stones, pearls make the possibilities endless and thus chokers are not just outstanding challenges but make up a jewellery category that is incredibly attractive, versatile and very customizable (even modularly). |
