Frequently Asked Questions
Custom order, custom jewelry design
What is the difference between Splendor and Brilldor jewelry?
Splendor jewelry is completely unique – each piece is born from a personal story and designed from scratch with you. These pieces are made exclusively for you, by hand, with 3D design, special details, and as a timeless piece.
The Brilldor by Splendor collection, on the other hand, consists of ready-made jewelry that can be ordered immediately. It represents the same quality and style as Splendor, but if you want something special right away, this is the perfect choice. And if you find something in this collection that inspires you or you would like to make any changes to it, we are happy to help you with that too – we will find a solution for every request!
I would like to order a custom piece of jewelry. What is the process?
As a first step, contact us here and we will contact you as soon as possible to discuss the exact details. The process starts with a personal consultation, where we discuss your ideas and try to get to know the future wearer of the jewelry better so that we can personalize the creation as accurately as possible.
How long does it take to make a unique piece of jewelry?
Making custom jewelry is an exciting but time-consuming process – that’s what makes it special! On average, it takes 4–8 weeks from design to delivery. Depending on how complex the design is, what materials we choose, and what size the jewelry is, this interval can be longer or shorter, which we will of course inform you about during the consultation.
If you have a specific date in mind (e.g. engagement, gift), it is worth noting this as soon as possible. And of course, we will stay in touch with you throughout the process so you can see how your jewelry is being created.
How is unique jewelry made?
It all starts with a personal conversation – you may already have a specific idea, but it’s enough to just bring a feeling, a story or an occasion. We then create hand sketches and 3D designs, which are then transformed into visuals and then realistic animations so you can see exactly what to expect.
Once all the details are in place, the jewelry can be crafted with the highest quality precious metals and gemstones. The final step is the fine handwork, setting the stones, polishing, and issuing the official certificates – and then the handover. The result: a one-of-a-kind creation with a personal story.
Is it possible to adjust the ring size?
Yes, in most cases it is possible to adjust the size of the ring. The exact solution always depends on the specific piece - for example, the material, stones and decoration of the ring also affect how and to what extent it can be adjusted.
Smaller adjustments are usually easier and quicker, while narrowing or larger adjustments can be more complex. In some cases (especially extreme size differences), it is worth checking in advance whether the adjustment is safe. If you are unsure, visit us or contact us - we will be happy to discuss the options based on your specific piece of jewelry.
If I have a picture of a piece of jewelry, can you design something similar?
If you have a photo of jewelry you'd like to show as inspiration, we'd love to hear it! Physically, almost anything can be made, but it's important to us to respect the work of other creators, so we don't copy copyrighted or uniquely designed pieces exactly.
However, we can use any image as inspiration, and together we will design a unique piece of jewelry that is truly about you. The process typically results in a completely new, personal piece – even if we started from an existing design. We are also happy to help you shape the image you see in space, material and proportion to your ideas.
Can a new piece of jewelry be made based on a favorite bijoux or lost/worn piece of jewelry?
Yes, we are often approached with a reimagining of old favorite jewelry or trinkets - whether because they are lost, worn out, or just want to see them again in higher quality.
It is important to know that mass-produced pieces are often made of cheap materials and with compromises, which is why they quickly become fragile. In contrast, we offer a durable, comfortable and high-quality solution. If you bring a photo or a worn piece, we are happy to redesign it - so that it retains its atmosphere, but is reborn in a timeless, more personal and aesthetically stronger version.

Is home delivery possible?
Yes, over the years we have made a lot of jewelry by long-distance order, both for our domestic and international customers. We send the packages safely and securely through our reliable partner, DHL - based on our decades of experience, we recommend it with complete confidence.
Do you ship outside the EU?
Yes, we ship outside the EU – this is an increasingly common request. Over the past few years, we have won 59 international jewelry design awards, making us known to many people around the world. We regularly receive orders from countries as far away as the United States, the Emirates, Switzerland, Great Britain, Australia and other distant countries.
In these cases, shipping requires a separate export procedure, which may incur some additional costs and a longer turnaround time, but everything can be resolved and we have extensive experience in this area. We will guide you through the process and help you in every way possible to ensure that your jewelry arrives safely and on time.
What happens if the jewelry doesn't fit perfectly? Is there a possibility of exchange or modification?
With the pieces of the Brilldor collection – as these are ready-made, immediately available pieces of jewelry – it is possible to adjust the size, make minor modifications, or even exchange or credit within reasonable limits. We try to be flexible in all cases.
At Splendor, every piece of jewelry is uniquely designed: it is made to order, based on multiple rounds of consultation, hand sketches, 3D visuals and precise technical details. This means that there is practically no room for misunderstandings, and this is backed up by nearly 30 years of experience. However, if for some reason you do not feel the finished piece of jewelry is perfect, we will of course do everything we can to adjust it and make it truly what you dreamed it would be. The most important thing for us is your satisfaction, joy and the spread and preservation of our good reputation.
What payment options are available?
Payment can be made in several ways: you can choose bank transfer, PayPal, credit card payment, but we also accept cash, currency or even gold - we will always find the most convenient solution for you. If you have any questions, we are happy to help with the details!
What happens if the price of gold changes after ordering custom jewelry?
When placing an order, we always calculate based on the gold exchange rate on the given day – this is also recorded with the advance payment, so the price does not change during the production time. This means that neither the multiplier of the jewelry nor the value of any precious metal included will change during the production period, even if the world market price of gold were to increase in the meantime.
However, if the finished jewelry is not received for a longer period of time after the agreed deadline, the fluctuating exchange rate may affect the final amount.
How much advance payment should be made when ordering a piece of jewelry?
When ordering custom jewelry , we ask for a 50% deposit of the jewelry value, which starts the production process. If the design requires longer preparation, we calculate the deposit based on 50% of the estimated value of the final price. In all cases, we strive for transparency and provide accurate information about every detail before ordering.
Material use
What materials and special features did you use for your jewelry?
We use only the finest materials – various precious metals such as gold, white gold, platinum or silver, as well as hand-selected diamonds, brilliants, specially cut stones, genuine gemstone rarities (such as sapphire, emerald, ruby, tanzanite, aquamarine, opal), and of course the finest pearls, whether freshwater, Akoya, Tahitian or South Sea pieces.
I'm not sure what material or design of jewelry would be best for me. Can you help me with this?
Of course! For us, custom jewelry making is not just about design, but also about answering all your questions. We are happy to talk to you about diamonds, pearls, different gold and platinum versions, clasps, allergy-free solutions, or even ring sizes – to make sure you find the perfect piece for you.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us by email, phone or in person at our showroom in Budakesz, we will be happy to help you with anything!
What ingredients do you recommend for allergy problems?
We have several options for those with metal sensitivities. Although precious metals themselves are generally not allergenic, all jewelry is made from alloys, and the additional metals in them can cause sensitivity.
We have special, internationally rare gold alloys available, which have been developed specifically for the needs of those with metal allergies. In many cases, we already use such alloys as standard for these materials. If you know what you are sensitive to, we will be happy to inform you about the options!
How good an investment is jewelry?
A car is expensive when new, but is worth only a fraction of that when wrecked. Jewelry, on the other hand, does not lose its value due to its precious precious metal and gemstone base materials – in fact, in many cases its value only increases over time. Since the price of gold on the world market is constantly rising, in the long run it can even provide a return that exceeds the production costs.
Moreover, jewelry can be valuable not only from a financial perspective. Just as a classic car or the work of a famous artist increases in value over time, a special, handcrafted piece of jewelry can also represent outstanding value.
Our motto is: "Inheritable Value." We believe in creating unique pieces that have value not only in their materials, but also in what they represent - personal stories, memories, and heritage spanning generations.
What diamond qualities does the company work with?
We work exclusively with high-quality diamonds and gemstones – our goal is for all of our jewelry to perform far above average in appearance, value, and durability.
Some jewelry requires an extremely high, rare, and therefore extremely expensive quality category, so we often deal with this. For most of our finished jewelry, we aim for a category that is above the market average, also excellent, but not extreme. In the case of small diamonds, on the other hand, we use the best available. Medium and larger diamonds are always accompanied by globally recognized certificates (GIA, IGI, HRD).
What is the difference between 14k and 18k gold in practice?
The 14 and 18 karat gold alloys differ primarily in their gold content: 18k gold has a higher fineness, therefore has a warmer shade (even in yellow, white or red versions), and is less likely to cause allergic reactions. At the same time, it is slightly softer, allowing for finer processing, but is less resistant for thin rings or bracelets.
14k gold is harder and therefore more durable in everyday use, especially for wedding rings or thin jewelry. Its color is slightly lighter, more lemony. Most of our Brilldor jewelry is made of special white gold containing palladium, which is not only unique in color, but also extremely safe and skin-friendly.
It may be worth consulting about the options for raw materials in each case, because there are differences not only in numbers, but also in durability, stone safety, color, allergy problems, and many other important issues.
Is it possible to engrave or carve jewelry?
In many cases, we are asked to engrave dates, quotes, names or other messages on the inside of rings. This is possible for both ready-made jewelry ( Brilldor by Splendor ) and designed and personalized items, as long as the available surface is large enough.
Of course, it is also possible to have wedding rings or any other piece of jewelry engraved with decorative engraving. In addition to names, anniversary numbers and words, you can also request figurative engraving (coat of arms, living creatures, buildings, symbols, etc.) and textures and patterns.
Can you count the material you brought? If so, what kind?
The world gold price is at an all-time high and is rising. Therefore, the value of jewelry is high, but the value of the gold brought can also be surprisingly high. Offset is a good idea and a common request. Gold or other precious metal (silver, platinum, palladium) objects of different fineness and color are often brought for offset.
Whether it's jewelry, dental gold, coins, or something else, they can be identified and their value acts as a means of payment.
Do you work with steel or titanium?
On the Brilldor website, we primarily use precious metal versions that have been used for thousands of years, so we typically work with silver, gold, and platinum.
We don't usually deal with steel and titanium, but there are exceptions: for example, Damascus steel, which is such a special material that we also offer ready-made items from it. However, the use of titanium or other steel variants arises more in custom-made products and for more special needs. So there are options in this form, although they are more limited than in the case of precious metals.
Do you work with zirconia, lab grown diamonds, moissanite or other artifacts?
The finished jewelry offered in the Brilldor collection is primarily made with mined, genuine gemstones and gemstone specialties. Creating real values is our main goal, so precious metals and gemstones, authenticity, craftsmanship, artistic value, personality, quality, aesthetics and durability determine the path of our work.
When making custom jewelry , we try to solve anything according to the customer's needs.
This flexibility opens up further possibilities for other colors, sizes, and shapes. There are many arguments for and against different types of stones, as well as lab-grown stones. If our guests request this, we will of course accommodate that as well.
Can we replace a fallen stone?
Yes, we can help – although it is rarely necessary.
When designing and making Brilldor and Splendor jewelry, we pay special attention to ensuring that the stone setting is stable and secure. We work exclusively with high-quality materials and precise hand techniques, and we thoroughly test our jewelry before sale, so the loss of stones is extremely rare even in the long term.
If something does go wrong – for example, due to a serious impact or accident – we will of course help you replace the lost stone and restore the original beauty of the jewelry. In such a case, contact us with confidence and we will find the best solution!
The jewelry gets scratched while wearing it! Is this normal?
Yes, it's completely natural – even the hardest precious metals and most shiny surfaces are no exception.
With everyday wear, jewelry will get fine scratches, especially rings and bracelets that come into contact with hard surfaces more often. Shiny jewelry can become slightly duller over time, and matte surfaces can become slightly polished - that's the beauty of use.
The good news: we offer a lifetime surface guarantee for all Splendor and Brilldor jewelry! You can bring it back to us for polishing at any time – with no time or number of times limit. Polishing is free, so your jewelry can shine again as often as you like.
(Small costs may arise for postage or additional operations, but we will always inform you of this in advance.)
Tip : It is recommended to remove the rings during regular and rougher activities, such as playing sports, washing dishes, gardening, construction, assembly, etc.
